About Anne Kerr
My name is Anne Kerr and I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. I was lucky enough to grow up in the beautiful county of Cornwall in the UK. Cornwall has the most wonderful light for artist to work in. The scenery is breathtaking if you just find the time to explore away from the busy streets and tourist places. I spent much of my working life teaching and I still run art classes from my new home in Spain. I have taught most painting mediums but I now work mainly in watercolour and soft pastel.
I have exhibited in other European countries, some of my paintings have found their way to many distant corners of the world. I have won several 'best in show' awards and have been asked to judge art competitions both in the UK and in other European countries.
Having grown up in a beautiful county of the UK, I have a natural love of the outside world. Most of my paintings are landscapes, seascapes, flowers, plant life and animals. I am excited by the effect light can have on a scene and most of my landscape paintings are inspired by atmosphere. I often change a fairly simple photograph into something that evokes feelings by changing the time of day or the lighting details. I only ever use photograph as a basic idea for a painting, changing and adding features as I see fit.
My animal portraits are all done in soft pastel and I work purely from photographs. I work on velour paper which gives such a beautiful soft effect that represents the animal fur texture. Again, my paintings have been purchased by people in both Europe and America.
I teach classes at my home studio in Spain. I also tutor on several painting holidays throughout Europe. You will find details of these holidays on my website.
I hope you enjoy looking at the prints I have for sale. Do log onto my other website to see more examples of my work on my 'gallery' page and to see the painting holiday details.
